What light does the Hat Pro use?
TripleWave is 125 diodes at 615, 635 and 650 nm, for different depths in the scalp, plus 450 nm blue for a flaky or oily scalp.1 There is no near-infrared. The emitters are LEDs, not lasers.
Coverage is about 80% of the scalp, versus about 50% for a laser cap. Panel output is 500 mW. A session is 15 minutes.
What comes in the box?
A soft everyday cap. The panel lifts out, so the cap is washable. The fit is 54–62 cm. The controller is USB-C and rechargeable, with a 15-minute timer, and the box includes a travel case. It runs cool.

The RedLight study
RedLight Innovation’s own study followed 6 volunteers, 3 men and 3 women, for 90 days. They used the hat for 15 minutes a day. The brand says the study finished in August 2024, with scalp microscopy before and at day 90, and it reports 0 adverse reactions. Participants 01 to 03 are the men and 04 to 06 are the women. This is the brand’s write-up. It does not describe a control group, and it is not an independent or controlled trial. Read the study page.
The originals on the study page are about 200 pixels wide. These are the same files at twice that size, without sharpening.
What do buyers say on the brand’s website?
Rated 4.8/5 from 503 reviews on RedLight Innovation’s website (Okendo, October 2026). These are customer reviews from the brand’s website, not reviews by this guide.
The lights are extremely bright and the quality of the hat is probably the best I have felt ever. It feels really well made and comfortable to wear, and you can tell a lot of thought has gone into the design.
I'm not sure if its hugely noticeable but I feel it has definitely helped
I mixed my treatment with 5% minoxidil foam everyday… These are my progress pics after 85 days and I'm so happy with the way my hair is looking already.
What results can you expect?
The microscopy above is the brand’s own 90-day write-up of six volunteers. It does not describe a control group. It is not the same evidence as the sham-controlled studies.
Research suggests red light may help with pattern hair loss when people use it consistently over several months. The stronger studies compare a real device with a sham and count hairs at about 16 to 26 weeks. They do not all agree on the size of the change, and they were not run on this hat. Wavelengths around 630–680 nm overlap 635 and 650 nm. The detail is on does red light therapy work.
The quotes above are customer reviews from the brand’s website. Some of them also mention minoxidil. The 4.8 from 503 reviews is the shop’s Okendo rating. This guide does not award stars.
If the loss is sudden or patchy, see a GP before you buy. The NHS asks for that conversation before a commercial clinic. A hat does not replace a conversation about minoxidil where that medicine is appropriate. See red light or minoxidil.
When should you buy something else?
Choose the CurrentBody helmet if you want a rigid full-head shape and you can spend £649.99 and wait for stock. Choose Beauty Pie if £332 is the budget and the cap is back in stock. Choose HigherDOSE if a cordless 10-minute cap matters more than a published fit range.
